Imitates Life
She was tired of waiting for the perfect man...so she made one.
Synopsis
Imitates Life
Amy is a 30 something hardworking, perfectionist mixed media artist who struggles to find a work/life balance. After attending a friend's wedding and running into her dreaded ex, Amy throws herself into her work to make it into a prestigious local showcase with a deadline.

Working day and night she’s on the cusp of a breakdown from exhaustion. She sculpts a life-sized ‘perfect man’ to add to her gallery before passing out. In the morning Amy realizes her ‘perfect man’ has come to life- handsome, charming, funny, he can do it all. After freaking out, she eventually learns to trust him. They spend the day exploring Vancouver Island- a walk in the Victoria Inner Harbour, Gyro Beach, a road trip to Nanaimo and Parksville. They end the day ordering takeout from a food truck.
As Amy is ordering, the food server asks who she’s talking to, then points out that no one else is there. Amy realizes she’s made up this ‘perfect man’ to help her practice the self-care she so desperately needed. We end the film with the knowledge Amy doesn’t need a ‘perfect man’ to have a perfect life.
