Pulling inspiration from classic films like Weird Science and Mannequin, 'Imitates Life' creates a world where make-believe is one woman's reality.

We plan to shoot on Vancouver Island working with local businesses in Nanaimo and Victoria to showcase their spaces. We'll document everything on social media to share behind the scenes with our audience.

Fight Club meets Weird Science
We're taking inspiration from the 80's kookiness of Weird Science (minus the sexism) and the cult-like coolness of Fight Club to inspire this rom-com film about self-love.
Think Edgar Wright's fast-paced transitions sprinkled with Judd Apatow one-liners and the cinematography of Wes Anderson.
Colours
Playing off the beautiful natural landscape of Vancouver Island, and the fact that Amy is an artist we plan to showcase all of the beautiful colours found in nature.

Themes
The theme throughout this film is growth and self-discovery. Sticking with this theme we will show the change in Amy from an overworked independent artist to a self-care advocate.

Mood
The general mood of this film is comedic, with undertones of drama. Amy is struggling but ultimately learns to balance life and art. We'll convey this through a combination of witty lines, well dressed scenery and quick witted actors.
